To reduce isolation, neglect, abuse, exploitation and premature institutionalization of Senior Citizens of Greene County.
OBJECTIVE:
To promote activities that will encourage physical fitness, good health, and stimulate well being.
Provide transportation to help Seniors remain self-sufficient.
Provide information and referral to access available services.
Provide good nutrition by providing congregate and home delivered meals.
HISTORY:
The B.E.E.S. have been providing services for Senior Citizens in Greene County since 1972. Socialization activities, information and referral, outreach services and a volunteer transportation were our first services. In 1973 we received our first van and started a scheduled transportation service. In 1976 we opened our second center at the Mini-Rise. We began our food service program in 1977. We maintain these services today.
ELIGILIBITY:
Persons sixty years of age and older, living in greene County, spouses of sixty plus that are active in the BEES program, handicap individuals living with parents that are receiving services and handicap individuals living in the Mini-Rise are eligible for servicies. Home delivered meals require assessments to determine eligilibity.
TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation are to designed to provide Senior Citizwns access to the Senior Centers, medical services, local government offices, utility companies, stores and businesses to meet hteir personal needs. Dial-a-ride and scheduled routes are used.
SOCIALIZATION ACTIVITIES:
A variety of recreational, educational, cultural and social activities are provided five days a week. The activities are designed to increase social contact and to foster the health and well being of Senior Citizens of Greene County.
CONGREGATE MEALS:
Hot nutritious noon mealsd are served at the Mini-Rise and the community center Monday-Friday. The menus for these meals are planned by registered dietitian and meet one third of the daily dietary intake.
HOME DELIVERED MEALS:
The noon meal is delivered Monday-Friday to HOMEBOUND Senior Citizens who are unable to prepare or obtain nutririous meals.
TELEPHONE REASSURANCE:
Calls are made Monday-Friday at a prearranged time to check on lonely and isolated Senior Citizens to make sure they are OKAY. An emergency plan is followed if the phone is not answered.
GROUP TOURS:
Traveling is educational and fun. BEES Tours are designed to enhance the lives of the Senior Citizens.

Our knowedgeable staff & volunteers help Seniors by explaining services available to them.
